London
We arrived in London on a cold, damp winter’s morning. Even though it was chilly, we were happy to be off the plane. It took two long flights to get there. London quickly became one of my favourite cities. It was clean, vibrant and colourful. I loved seeing the Christmas lights that lined the streets and buildings. A massive difference to a summer Christmas in Australia.
We took the Fujifilm X100VI to London. It was the perfect camera for street photography and the 35mm lens made for exciting compositions. I enjoyed having a fixed lens camera so that I could practice my composition. It meant that I had to move around rather than just change the focal length.
The recipes are amazing and I didn’t need to do too much editing. Some of the photos came out a little yellow so I did a quick fix in Lightroom. This happened more when we were indoors, so we needed to tweak the recipe a bit.
The overcast skies made a perfect diffuser for the light. We were lucky to get sunshine and blue skies throughout the trip.
Some highlights/must-do’s:
The classics - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Tower of London
Ice skating at Winter Wonderland
Watching the Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theater
The British Museum
The Natural History Museum - If possible, visit the Nature Photographer of the Year Exhibition (we skipped this and saw it in Sydney instead)
Exploring Notting Hill
Christmas was everywhere. I was lucky to snap a shot of this Santa riding through Hyde Park.
Blue skies and beautiful light.
Golden light on a winter’s day.
I love the hint of ‘red’ in each of the images below.
